newest software won't install

- Fixed Vista issue where launching WavitMENU through the shortcut on the Wavit Basic Screen would give a LIB error.

WavitMENU115 released!
This version instroduces our new basic WavitMENU which uses a very small memory footprint when running. If the user presses the handset menu button, a screen will pop up showing what functions the bottons have been hard coded to have.

This screen also has shortcuts to start a browser to WavitChannels, and to start the full version of WavitMENU (located in the lower right corner).
The full version of WavitMENU has more features, including user programmable button modes.

In Vista, getting error message "NI_Filetype.lvlib miss

This is a known bug for version WavitMENU115.

In Vista, if you press the Wavit MENU button, you will see a help screen with a shortcut in the lower right corner to start up the FULL version of WavitMENU. This works for XP. Unfortunately, in Vista, due to heightened security features, this causes the error message to appear and WavitMENU wont start.

FIX:
1. You can always start WavitMENU from the desktop shortcut or Start>ProgramFile>Wavit>Start_WavitMENU.

2. The other shortcut will also work on Vista if you disable User Account Control. Go to Control Panel. Select User Accounts. Unclick User Account Control. Reboot.

Wavit for Ubuntu 8.10 - Released!

Wavit for Ubuntu 8.10 - Released!

Basic Wavit functionality now works for Ubuntu 8.10. The Wavit Driver has been accepted and incorporated into the Linux kernel 2.6.27+. This means that no driver installation is required. A Wavit background program does need to be started up for the Wavit functionality (pointing, buttons) to work.

Getting started with Wavit for Ubuntu:

1. Go to www.thinkoptics.com/Downloads.html
2. Download Wavit_for_Ubuntu

The folder contains 3 files:

wavit
libWavItCore.so
libWavItLinux.so

Place these in the HOME directory (for example).

3. Copy the lib files to the usr/local/lib location by doing the following: Open an Xterminal and go to the HOME directory and type

sudo cp libWav*.* /usr/local/lib

Then type in your password when prompted.

4. Plug in the Wavit USB cable. Now run wavit. In the Xterminal window type in the following:
./wavit

Point to the Wavit remote toward the Wavit POD and the cursor should start moving to where you point it. Do not stand closer than 3ft or farther away than 25 ft or cursor motion may be erratic. It is recommended that you place the Wavit POD right below the TV screen.

The button layout on the Wavit handset is fixed. The picture below shows the functions for each button.

5. To start up wavit automatically after each reboot, go to the desktop drop-down menu System>>Preferences>>Sessions.

Click on the New button in the New Startup Programs window, and enter Wavit. Then browse to the wavit program and hit OK.

Next time the Linux PC boots up, the Wavit program should start running automatically. Enjoy!

WavitMENU 1.1.2 (2.16.2009)
� Bug fix: Removed a dependency that Wavit.exe had on Microsoft Visual Studio C++ redistributable. This is no longer needed.
� Bug fix: Version 1.1.1 did not write to Wavit.xml which meant that settings were forgotten after a reboot. Also, it was possible for the Default Button Mapping to be active at the same time as the WavitMENU button mapping, if the USB was removed when WavitMENU was running.
� Bug fix: When using WavitChannels, Firefox users would get an error 405 if Firefox was already open. This has been fixed.
� Added new language option for WavitMENU. Under Start> Program files> Wavit> Advanced> Change_Wavit_Language it is possible to set WavitMENU to operate in different languages. Currently only English and Danish. If you want to help translate to other languages, then there is a Wavit in it for you

� Added a Universal RC test program to Wavit\Advanced. This can be used to troubleshoot IR learning if needed.

� Added Creating_WavitTV_TouchInterface document to Wavit\Advanced.
� Added a bunch more shortcuts to Wavit\Advanced.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Wavit.xml is a new format. Wavit.xml needs to be erased first, otherwise Wavit.exe will crash. This applies only if you are upgrading from a previous version. Run Wavit> Advanced >Reset_Wavit.

We have tested that our latest version of WavitMENU111 with the Windows certified Wavit drivers all work on Windows 7. So for those of you early adopters out there, feel free to try it out.

We are debugging your code and found the following errors:

1. You need to declare the functions as follows:

Also, here is a quick opportunity for us to give an overview of how IR learning works.

HOW TO PROGRAM IR CODES WITH WAVIT

The logic behind the IR learning and blasting is that there are 4 basic commands:
1. WI_LearnIR().......This will put the POD in IR learning mode. For 10 seconds the POD will be listening for an IR code. If it receives one, it blinks and then stores the command in the internal memory.

2. WI_GetIRCode(*Code, *length).....This will read any code that is stored in the POD.

3. WI_SendBlastIR()......This will Blast the code from the POD into the room.

4. WI_SendIRCode(*Code, length) ....This can send any IR code stored on the PC to the POD for subsequent blasting. Only one code resides in the POD at a time.

WI_LearnCode
Syntax
WAVITDEV_API int WI_LearnCode();
Description
This command tells the POD to learn an IR code. The POD is placed in a �listening� mode for 10 seconds as it waits for a valid IR signal from an external remote control. Once a good code is received the LED on the POD will blink once. The IR code is then stored in the POD�s on-board RAM. See also WI_GetIRCode, WI_GetLastError, and
WI_SendIRBlast.
To read the code in the RAM, use WI_GetIRCode. Note that all other communication to the POD ceases during these 10 seconds of
reception.

WI_GetIRCode
Syntax
WAVITDEV_API int WI_GetIRCode(unsigned char *, int *);
Description
WI_GetIRCode (and its complementary function, WI_SendIRCode) will read (write) the IR code that currently resides in the POD memory. This code can be stored on the PC.
Background information on the code:
All payload data is received (sent) as bytes, but in reality they are words. The Words are Most Significant Byte first followed by the Least Significant Byte. After the payload has been read, the bytes can be converted to words as MSB*256+LSB. The first word in an IR code is the frequency. It can be calculated as Freq(Hz)=1/(62.5ns x Word1). It is normally between 37KHz and 40KHz. The subsequent words describe the number of cycles (periods) that the IR light is ON, then OFF, then ON, etc. The code is terminated by a 0. The codes typically have a length of 100-150 bytes, and a temporal duration of 20-50ms.

WI_SendIRCode
Syntax
WAVITDEV_API int WI_SendIRCode(unsigned char *, int);
Description
WI_SendIRCode will write an IR code stored on the host PC into the on-board POD memory. After this is done, the code can be blasted out using the WI_SendIRBlast command. See also WI_GetIRCode., and WI_LearnCode.

WI_SendIRBlast
Syntax
WAVITDEV_API int WI_SendIRBlast();
Description
This command tells the POD to �blast� the IR code that is stored in is memory (see also WI_LearnIRCode). The powerful blast of IR light will be sent out from the front side of the POD. Normal use of the IR command set, is as follow:
Start by learning the codes (With WI_LearnCode). These codes can be read off from the POD and stored on the host PC using WI_GetIRCode. During normal operation codes are transferred to the POD (using WI_SendIRCode) before they are blasted into the room (using WI_SendIRBlast). Once stored in the memory, a code can be blasted repeatedly, but if a new code is to be blasted, it needs to first be loaded into memory.

Some of the important updates in the new WavitMENU110 are:
1. Certified drivers and software

2. Improved pointing/dragging/double clicking

3. WavitFavorites - A new part of the software that allows users to create THEIR OWN graphics and links. It is all done by dragging and dropping hyperlinks or shortcuts into the WavitFavorites folder on your desktop. When you go to WavitChannels, you will see a teddy bear icon. Click on this to reveal your own favorite links with nice 3D graphical transitions. Now you can make your TV Interface. If you want, you can make it look like an iPhone or a Media Center.

4. WavitSkype - This is also a new channel under WavitChannels. It will go in and nicely catagorize your contacts for easy clicking. Wouldn't it be great to be able to sit in the sofa and click on a name and instantly start talking to them? For the best experience you will need the new Wavit TalknPoint with the built-in microphone (release date: contact us).

5. Default Wavit Buttons - Before, only the OK button had any function when Wavit.exe was running, and you needed to run WavitMENU to activate more button mapping. Now we have included more buttons in our default button mapping that applied when WavitMENU is NOT RUNNING. This is what it looks like:
