My IR Lightbar is not working

We occasionally hear from people that their IR light bar does not appear to work.

Symptom: They plug the IR Lightbar into the iWavit USB dongle and plug the USB dongle into a USB socket.
The USB light blinks 4 times, as it should, but the red LED on the IR light bar does not light up, and any subsequent IR blasting does not work.

Resolution: When you plug in the IR lightbar plug into the side of the iWavit USB dongle, please make sure that you hear the "snap". Otherwise it is not plugged in all the way. So far this has accounted for 100% of the reported failures.

Correction orientation of IR Lightbar:
One other thing to be aware of when setting up the IR Lightbar, is that there is actually and front and back to it.
The front is the side opposite the cable. When the USB dongle is plugged in and powered on, you will see a red LED blink from the front.

Make sure that the front is facing you if you want to use the 3D DirectPointing Mouse feature. When you launch an iWavit app, the red LED will light up continually. If you have multiple USB dongles with IR lightbars, this red LED is also a good way of seeing which USB dongle your app is communicating with.

For the IR blasting and control of IR devices, the orientation of the IR Lightbar is not critical at all. You can play with what orientation give you the best coverage, but almost any orientation should work because the IR LEDs are emitting at a very large angle (the full-width-half-max angle) of 120 degrees.
